Talks about the nuclear threat in the West are beneficial only to Russia, as it is part of its fear propaganda, according to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.

“Now all the talk about the nuclear threat in the West in the media is beneficial only to Russia. Because nuclear horror stories are part of the fear propaganda they have always used to scare Western societies to achieve their goals without war,” Kovalenko writes.

He added that the theoretical desire of Russia to launch a nuclear strike would harm it more. The whole world is against using nuclear weapons, and the Russian economy is based only on energy resources, which are still being bought from it.

“I think that we should not help the Russians in propagating fear of nuclear weapons for the sake of media traffic. Calm down,” he said.

Operation Spiderweb

Operation Spiderweb was carried out on June 1. Drones of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) attacked four Russian airfields at once: Belaya, Dyagilevo, Olenya, and Ivanovo.

The operation was one of the largest since the beginning of the full-scale war, and the enemy's losses amounted to $7 billion. The SBU reported the destruction and damage of 41 Russian strategic aviation aircraft, including Tu-95MS, Tu-22M3, Tu-160, and A-50 radar detection and control aircraft.

US special envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg said that the operation allegedly increased the risk of escalation of the conflict.
