Weimar Triangle meeting in Berlin will be dedicated to helping Ukraine - Scholz
The upcoming meeting of the Weimar Triangle in Berlin this Friday will primarily focus on aiding Ukraine, according to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
"It is good that we are coming together in the Weimar Triangle at this time," he said.
Scholz emphasized the importance for the three EU countries to gather, especially with Russia waging aggressive warfare against Ukraine.
"We must do everything we can to organize as much support as possible for Ukraine. Is there enough ammunition? Is there enough artillery? Is there enough air defense?" Scholz added.
Furthermore, the Chancellor once again dispelled impressions of a rift with Macron.
"Emmanuel Macron and I have a very good personal relationship, I would call it very friendly," Scholz said.
The Weimar Triangle
This informal international association of Germany, Poland, and France was established in 1991. The group holds numerous meetings of foreign ministers and heads of state. Ukraine-related issues are often discussed at summits.
Initiatives have been proposed at various times for Ukraine to join the respective union, thus transforming the "triangle" into a "quadrilateral."
Earlier, Politico reported that French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will travel to Berlin on March 15 to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
