American actor RJ Mitte, who died by suicide at the age of 34, was best known for his role in the TV series Breaking Bad. He played Walter White Jr., the son of the show's main character, Walter White, who gradually descends into a life of crime.
Like his character, Mitte had cerebral palsy. However, his co-stars recall that he never let his condition become an obstacle. They remember him as a kind young man who will be deeply missed.
RBC-Ukraine has gathered tributes and reactions from key Breaking Bad cast members following the loss of their co-star.
Bryan Cranston
The actor who played Walter White, the show's central character, shared his memories of Mitte on Instagram.
Cranston recalled meeting the young actor when he was just 14. Mitte was thrilled to land the role and approached it with determination and a strong sense of responsibility. Despite his cerebral palsy diagnosis, he never allowed his condition to stand in his way.
He also listened to advice from his on-screen parents, although he sometimes ignored it, just like any other teenager.
"We were texting each other just a few weeks ago — figuring out when we could meet for lunch. I don’t know if that lunch would have changed his future… But I do know that I loved him, and thoroughly enjoyed being with him throughout the years on the series, and after the spotlight on Breaking Bad dimmed… I’ll miss you, son," Cranston wrote.
The actor concluded by urging anyone who was even thinking about suicide to reach out for support and help.
Aaron Paul
Paul, who played the show's other lead character, Jesse Pinkman, also expressed his grief over the loss of his co-star. His statement was published by The Hollywood Reporter.
"I am at a loss. I am heartbroken over this news. RJ, I love you, my friend. You will be missed. And to whoever happens to be reading this, please know you are loved, and you are not alone. Always remember that," Paul said.
Dean Norris
Norris, who played Hank Schrader, Walter Jr.'s uncle, also shared his thoughts with The Hollywood Reporter. He recalled always keeping an eye on Mitte on the set.

"Though RJ didn’t play my TV son, I always looked out for him as a young kid on set. He was a sweetheart of a young man and will be greatly missed. This is so heartbreaking; I can’t believe it. Thinking of him and his family," Norris said.
