'We are all eastern flank countries these days': NATO makes statement over Russian threats

NATO is stepping up intelligence and information sharing in response to growing hybrid threats from Russia. Given the scale of the challenges, all NATO countries have effectively become part of the eastern flank, NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe Alexus Grynkewich said, The Guardian reports.
According to him, Denmark's intelligence assessment regarding an escalation of Russia's actions and the threat of military incidents involving NATO countries on the eastern flank is "pretty balanced."
Grynkewich added that the Alliance is stepping up information and intelligence sharing in response to hybrid attacks.
The general stressed that, given the nature and scale of the threats to NATO, "we are all eastern flank countries these days."
"I am confident I have the authority now that I need to take action to deter any aggression against the alliance," he added.
NATO's commander in Europe also highlighted changes in approaches to security in Europe and the allocation of defense resources.
According to him, the US will continue to provide the Alliance with critical resources, but their volume will be more limited. This is because European NATO member states are taking on a greater role in defending their own continent.
Earlier, Denmark's Defense Intelligence Service said that Russia would step up hybrid attacks against NATO in the coming months. A limited military operation could also take place.
