War is on and Russia must win: Kremlin signals 'most critical' stage

The Kremlin has made another statement about the war against Ukraine. Moscow has called the current stage “the most critical” and “fateful” for Russia, and it must win the war.
Putin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov presents the war as a “fight for the future”, allegedly for the sake of “children and grandchildren.”
"Listen, there is a war going on. <...> What is happening around us is a war. This is the most critical stage of the war. It is quite fateful. We need to win it for our children, for our grandchildren, for their future," he said.
Peskov also claims that there has “always been patriotism” in Russia, which he associates with “traditional values.” In his opinion, these things should remain the foundation of Russian society.
Since February 24, 2022, the Russian authorities have officially called the large-scale invasion of Ukraine a “special military operation.”
Previously, people were persecuted in Russia for using the word “war.” At the same time, recent statements from the Kremlin officials refer not to a “special military operation” but to a war.
Russia's war against Ukraine
Earlier, Peskov said that one of the main goals of the war in Ukraine was to “save” the so-called “LPR” and “DPR” and ‘restore’ them to their 2014 borders. He called Russia's aggression a “special military operation.”
Ukraine has repeatedly stated its readiness to negotiate an end to the war, but only on condition that its sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected.
The Kremlin, on the other hand, avoids direct dialogue, trying to shift responsibility and putting forward yet another set of manipulative conditions.
For example, today, Putin's team came up with a new excuse for why the Russian leader is avoiding a meeting with the Ukrainian president.
According to Peskov, a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy without prior preparation is a “PR stunt” that is doomed to failure.
