Vučić to hold Serbia elections under one condition

Mass protests against corruption and calls for the resignation of those responsible for the Novi Sad accident took place in Belgrade yesterday. Serbian President Vučić, in turn, is ready to hold elections, but later and on the condition that the opposition demands it, according to Suspilne and a live broadcast of Vučić's briefing.
Vučić stated that he is ready for new elections within the next three to four months if the opposition demands it. He also mentioned that, in his opinion, these elections would result in an even more convincing victory for him, according to Suspilne.
Aleksandar Vučić called the information campaign by opposition media an attempt to organize a "color revolution." He added that on the day of the protest, bomb threats were reported on all railway routes, which he saw as an attempt to destabilize the situation.
The President of Serbia also accused Western media and the opposition of "manipulation and misinformation regarding the protests." He stated that the authorities are aware of criminal groups attempting to exploit the situation and assured that law enforcement is investigating their activities.
At the same time, Vučić expressed satisfaction that the protest passed without any fatalities or serious injuries. He mentioned that 56 people were injured during the protests, and 22 individuals were arrested for participating in the riots. They have been charged with crimes against state property, attacks on police officers, and other offenses.
Background
The main cause of the protests was the collapse of the roof at the Novi Sad railway station in November 2024, which resulted in the deaths of 15 people. This tragic event sparked a wave of dissatisfaction due to alleged corruption and negligence within President Aleksandar Vučić's government.
Earlier, Vučić had allowed the possibility of holding early parliamentary elections in April.
