Vučić in Moscow assures that Serbia 'stay on European path'

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, arrived in the Russian capital, Moscow, where he went at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the May 9th parade, and recorded a video address on Red Square, according to Russian media.
In his speech, the Serbian president commented on the European Union's call for EU leaders to refrain from visiting Russia, which continues its invasion of Ukraine.
In this context, Vučić, in a conversation with Serbian television representatives, stated that he was not concerned about what others in the world think or say regarding his visit to Moscow.
The President of Serbia also mentioned that he is not afraid of possible punishment from the EU for ignoring the relevant call.
"I was elected by the Serbian people, I was chosen by the citizens of Serbia. I am not elected in Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, or anywhere else," Vučić's words are quoted by the Russian propaganda agency TASS.
He also expressed confidence, speaking about the European Union, that Serbia will stay on the European path.
Vučić's visit to Moscow at Putin's invitation
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, decided to attend the Victory Day parade in Moscow. He accepted the invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Against this backdrop, the EU's head of diplomacy, Josep Borrell, emphasized that the bloc would not take lightly European leaders' visits to Russia.
Despite this, Vučić did not change his mind and still decided to go to Moscow because he had given his word to Putin.
According to media reports, it was not easy for Vučić to reach the capital of the aggressor country for the Victory Parade – the journey was not without its complications. For a while, the Serbian president's plane was stranded in Baku.
Additionally, Serbian media reported that Vučić was unable to land directly in Moscow, as local airports had declared a Carpet Plan due to a supposed drone threat.
