Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić faced difficulties on his way to Moscow for the Victory Day parade, as his plane got stuck in Baku, according to Tanjug and TASS.

According to the Serbian outlet, Vučić’s plane is currently in Baku and unable to depart for Moscow due to not receiving the necessary flight clearance.

Tanjug reports that the flight clearance to Moscow was not granted because of ongoing hostilities.

In recent days, operations at Russian airports have repeatedly been restricted due to unidentified drones being detected in Russian airspace.

As of 3:40 p.m. Kyiv time, Serbian media reported that Vučić’s plane had eventually taken off from Baku. This information has not been officially confirmed.

Meanwhile, TASS, citing the Serbian Embassy in Russia, claims that Vučić’s visit to Moscow is still scheduled to take place.

Vučić’s visit to Putin

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić decided to attend the Victory Day parade in Moscow, having accepted the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Against this backdrop, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas emphasized that the bloc would not "take lightly" visits by European leaders to Russia, which continues its war against Ukraine.

Despite this, Vučić did not change his mind and still decided to travel to Moscow, stating that he had "given his word to Putin."
