European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that allies support a complete ceasefire in Ukraine for 30 days. If Russia does not agree to it or violates the ceasefire, additional strict sanctions will be imposed.

"Today, the Coalition of the Willing convened. We support the proposal for a full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire," she said.

According to von der Leyen, the ceasefire should be implemented without preconditions to pave the way for meaningful peace negotiations.

"The ball is now in Russia's court," she noted.

European Commission President also reminded that Ukraine's allies are ready to continue applying strong pressure on Russia and impose additional tough sanctions if the ceasefire is violated.

"Our objective is clear: a just and lasting peace for Ukraine, which is vital for security and stability across our continent," she concluded.

Ceasefire in Ukraine

Ukraine, the US, and the EU, particularly the Coalition of the Willing, whose leaders visited Kyiv, have decided to implement a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine.

As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained, the ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia is set to begin on May 12. If the Kremlin refuses to accept a complete and unconditional ceasefire, new sanctions will be imposed.

Moreover, Ukraine, the US, and the EU have developed a list of conditions for President Putin. It will be delivered to him by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. In addition to the 30-day ceasefire, the list includes 21 proposals for the Russian side.
