On Sunday, January 19, US Vice President-elect J.D. Vance met with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng. The parties discussed several topics, CNN reports.

According to a representative of the transition, they discussed a wide range of issues, including "fentanyl, balanced trade, and regional stability."

The meeting took place when Trump privately told his advisors that he wanted to visit China after his inauguration. The media clarified that he was talking about the first 100 days. Meanwhile, CNN writes that US President-elect Donald Trump is seeking to promote an open dialogue with Beijing while maintaining a tough stance on the country.

This also comes amidst the events surrounding the controversial ban on TikTok in the United States, which was caused by the fact that the popular app is owned by the Chinese.

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, with whom Vance met, will attend Trump's inauguration tomorrow on behalf of China.
