Usyk vs Fury 2. Designer explains mystical symbolism behind Ukrainian boxer's look
Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury will face off on December 21 to determine the undisputed world heavyweight champion. Ahead of the fight, the Ukrainian boxer appeared in public sporting a striking look full of symbolism.
Ukrainian designer and owner of the GASANOVA and Damirli brands, Elvira Gasanova (Damirova) explains the meaning behind Usyk's purple double-breasted loose-fitting suit and white fur cape.
"Unconquered is not just a suit; it is a visual manifestation of strength, individuality, and symbolism," the designer who created this look emphasized.

It is worth noting that Usyk appeared in a bright purple suit with a long double-breasted jacket and matching pants. The standout feature was a white fur cape with an imitation of a wild cat's head.

"Historically, purple has been associated with aristocracy, spirituality, and power. In Usyk's look, it emphasizes his confidence, charisma, and ability to stand out not only as an athlete but also as a cultural symbol," Gasanova emphasized.
"The white fur accent: white symbolizes purity, clarity of thought, and new beginnings. It contrasts with purple, adding focus and balance to the look. The embroidered wild cat transforms the detail into an artistic element," she wrote.
Elvira Gasanova believes that the look highlights Oleksandr Usyk's personality and shows that he remains true to himself even on the world stage.
A special emphasis in the look is the embroidered wild cat.

"The wild cat is the embodiment of independence, agility, and hidden strength. It is not a predator in the traditional sense, but a symbol of freedom, elusiveness, and readiness for an unexpected leap — qualities that reflect Usyk's style," the designer noted.
It is also noticeable that the cat's eyes are of different colors — blue and yellow.

"Eyes of different shades — a subtle hint at the Ukrainian flag — make the look personal and symbolic. The cat serves as a protector and talisman, emphasizing his strength and confidence," she concluded.
It is also worth noting that purple is the favorite color of Oleksandr Usyk's father, who was also named Oleksandr. He passed away in 2012, but the Ukrainian boxer often mentions him in his interviews and addresses.
Usyk is an undefeated Ukrainian professional boxer, competing in the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions. He is recognized as the best boxer regardless of weight category by The Ring magazine (2024 - present). He was named a national legend of Ukraine in 2024.
In professional boxing, he is the current world champion in the heavyweight division according to the WBC (2024 - present), WBA (2021 - present), WBO (2021 - present), IBO (2021 - present), and The Ring (2022 - present). He is also the undisputed world champion in both the cruiserweight (2018-2019) and heavyweight (2024) divisions.
