World heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk attended The Ring Awards 2025 ceremony, which took place on January 30 in New York.

Despite not being among the nominees, the Ukrainian boxer was invited to the event and personally presented the evening’s main individual award.

Crawford named Fighter of the Year

American boxer Terence Crawford received the “Fighter of the Year 2025” award. Usyk has previously called Crawford the strongest boxer of the modern era on multiple occasions.

In the race for the honor, Crawford beat out Dmitry Bivol, Naoya Inoue, Jesse Rodriguez, and Fabio Wardley.

One fight and a historic achievement

In 2025, Crawford fought just once, defeating Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez.

That victory made him the first boxer in the four-belt era to become an undisputed world champion in three weight divisions under the WBO, WBC, WBA, and IBF versions.

Following the fight, the American announced his retirement from professional boxing. Later, the WBO stripped him of his championship belt after he refused to pay mandatory sanctioning fees.

It is worth noting that Usyk previously topped the pound-for-pound rankings by ESPN and The Ring, but was not included among the nominees for Boxer of the Year 2025.

Earlier, it was reported that the WBC approved Usyk’s title defense in a bout against Deontay Wilder.

It was also revealed how Usyk could headline a record-breaking boxing event in the United States.
