The US Embassy in Kyiv has reported receiving specific information about a potential serious airstrike on Ukraine "over the next several days", according to the US Embassy in Ukraine.

In its statement, the Embassy urged its citizens in Ukraine to prepare for emergency actions in the event of an air alert announcement.

"The US Embassy in Kyiv has received information concerning a potentially significant air attack that may occur at any time over the next several days," the statement reads.

Recommendations for citizens:

  • Follow updates through local media.

  • Identify the nearest shelters for a safe stay in advance.

  • In case of an air alert, immediately head to a shelter.

  • Follow the instructions of local authorities and emergency services.

Warnings about Russian strikes

Yesterday, military expert Ivan Stupak advised following the official US Embassy resource in Ukraine.

He reminded that the last time Russia planned to use the Oreshnik, the US issued a warning 72 hours in advance, announcing an increased threat to US citizens in Ukraine, and all American companies gave their staff time off.

Following this, European country representatives also adopted this approach, and soon after, the Oreshnik did indeed strike Ukraine.

In his opinion, such messages serve as a red flag, suggesting that Russia plans to use the Oreshnik.

Ceasefire in Ukraine

Throughout the year, Russia has repeatedly refused to implement a 30-day ceasefire proposed by international partners. Instead, Russian leader Vladimir Putin has unilaterally declared a ceasefire with Ukraine.

Most recently, he announced a so-called Easter ceasefire, which was immediately violated by Russian forces. Just days ago, Putin declared yet another truce, supposedly set to last from May 8 to 11.

However, despite the Kremlin leader’s statements, fighting continues on the front lines, and there has been an increase in attacks.

Today, Reuters reported that the US and Europe are finalizing a proposal for a 30-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. If Moscow refuses to support it, it will face sanctions.
