The United States has criticized Russia during a meeting of the United Nations Security Council over its strikes on Ukraine, acting US Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN John Kelley says.

During the meeting, Kelley accused Russia of the bloodshed and said that Moscow "regrettably" carried out strikes that led to "causing needless loss of life, including of innocent civilians."

"Right now, Russia has a great opportunity to achieve a durable peace. It is up to the leaders of both these countries to decide whether peace is possible. If both sides are ready to end the war, the United States will fully support their path to a lasting peace," he adds.

Russian strikes on Ukraine

Russia regularly strikes Ukraine, using a wide range of weapons - from missiles and artillery to kamikaze drones. Most often, attacks are aimed at cities, energy infrastructure, and other objects that have no military significance. Often, residential buildings, hospitals, and schools are targeted - all this is accompanied by casualties among the civilian population.

Russians also resort to launching drones every night. For example, on the night of April 30, the Russians launched 108 strike drones and drone simulators at Ukraine.
