The United States wants to conclude several economic deals with Russia, particularly concerning the use of Russian rare earth resources, stated US President Donald Trump during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Trump said that the US was attempting to negotiate several economic development deals with Russia. Trump noted that he was unsure whether the deals would be successful, but the US would be happy to pursue them if possible, emphasizing that Russia possesses a significant amount of rare earth resources.

He also noted that Russia is the largest country in the world by land area and has very valuable assets that the US could use.

At the same time, Trump clarified that Washington's primary goal remains ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.

US agreement with Ukraine

Earlier, the US proposed an agreement with Ukraine regarding rare earth metals. This initiative involves the creation of a fund where the US would have economic and management rights.

It is expected that the fund would receive revenue from Ukraine's sales of rare earth metals.

Discussions about the agreement between Kyiv and Washington are still ongoing. According to CNN, the US has refused to include security guarantees for Ukraine in the agreement.

It is anticipated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may discuss this issue personally with US President Donald Trump.
