The US will help defend Denmark during an informal meeting of European Union leaders scheduled for October 1, according to the Danish Ministry of Defense on Twitter (X).

"We are pleased and grateful that the US is also supporting Denmark with counter-drone measures in connection with the upcoming summit," the ministry said.

The Ministry of Defense added that US support is proof of close transatlantic cooperation, which is also evident in effective countermeasures against hybrid attacks.

An informal EU summit will take place in Copenhagen on October 1, followed by a summit of the European Political Community (EPC) on October 2.

According to rumors, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may participate in the EPC summit.

Drones over Denmark

Last week, several unidentified drones were spotted over Denmark, including flights near airports.

Unidentified drones were also seen near Danish military facilities.

In response, the authorities have completely banned civilian drone flights from September 29 to October 3.

At the same time, Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced that his country will send a contingent to Denmark to help counter drones.
