US ready to step up pressure on Russia if Europe stops buying its oil, Trump says

The US will be ready to increase pressure on Russia, but only if European countries stop buying Russian oil, said US President Donald Trump during a press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Starmer noted that some European countries are "too reliant on energy from Russia."
The Prime Minister added that there is no universal solution, so it is currently important to put Ukraine in the strongest possible position. Trump, in turn, stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin would have no choice but to end the war if oil prices drop. However, the US leader noted, European countries continue to buy Russian oil.
Trump also recalled that he imposed tariffs on India to force it to stop buying Russian oil.
"I’m willing to do other things, but not when the people that I’m fighting for are buying oil from Russia. Very simply, if the price of oil comes down, Putin is going to drop out," he emphasized.
Trump threatens Russia with sanctions
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he is ready to hit Russia with major sanctions.
The American leader emphasized that such measures could be imposed once all NATO countries are also ready to sanction Russia and stop buying Russian oil.
