US ready to help restore Ukraine's damaged energy system – Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright. They discussed support for Ukraine's energy system and potential joint projects, the head of state reported.
"During the meeting with US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, we discussed in detail energy capabilities and potential projects for partnership in the energy sector," the president said.
Zelenskyy informed Wright about Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy system and the need for the fastest possible restoration of damaged facilities.
"I thank you for the readiness to help with everything necessary for the operation of our energy system. For us, the development of cooperation between Ukraine and the United States is important, in particular, the increased presence of American business in Ukraine," the head of state noted.
Power outages in Ukraine
Due to damage to the energy system caused by numerous Russian strikes this morning, October 17, Ukrenergo (Ukraine's national power grid operator) ordered emergency power outages in several regions.
This applies to the Kyiv, Sumy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kirovohrad regions.
Yesterday evening, October 16, Ukrenergo also ordered emergency power shutdowns across Ukraine.
