US President Donald Trump said he plans to have a long conversation with Chinese leader Xi Jinping about the war with Iran. At the same time, he downplayed the likelihood that he would need China’s help in resolving the conflict, reports CNN.

“I don’t think we need any help with Iran. We’ll win it one way or another. We’ll win it peacefully or otherwise,” the White House chief told reporters.

When asked what message he would like to convey to Xi Jinping regarding Iran, Trump responded as follows:

“I think he’s been relatively good, to be honest with you. You look at the blockade, no problem. They get a lot of their oil from that area. We’ve had no problem. And he’s been a friend of mine,” the US president said.

Just minutes later, Donald Trump downplayed the importance of discussing Iran with China, saying that the US largely has the situation under control. He added that trade would mostly be the main topic of discussions with Xi Jinping.

“We have a lot of things to discuss; I wouldn’t say Iran is one of them to be honest with you, because we have Iran very much under control. We’re either going to make a deal or they’re going to be decimated,” Trump concluded.

Trump’s trip to China

US President Donald Trump’s visit to China will take place from May 13 to 15, where he is expected to hold his second meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping since the start of his second term.

Earlier, we reported that according to Al Jazeera, the main topics of the talks will include the Iran war, China’s purchases of Iranian oil, and trade relations. US officials warned that Trump would put pressure on Beijing.

In addition, the US president intends to discuss American arms sales to Taiwan with the Chinese leader.

There were also media reports that Trump invited executives from the largest American companies to join his trip to China. Among those invited was billionaire Elon Musk.
