US President Donald Trump explained why he cannot end the war in Ukraine. According to him, when one side is ready to end the war, the other, on the contrary, is not, according to a White House broadcast.

Speaking at the White House, Trump once again said that he had already ended eight wars, adding that no president had settled even a single one.

“I don't know. Think of it. I did eight. The reason I do it is because it's easy for me to do. And I didn't do it for a Nobel Prize. I did it because I'm saving a lot of lives,” the US president said.

He added that he is trying to end the last conflict, referring to the Russia-Ukraine war. In his speech, Trump explained why he has not been able to do so yet.

“I'm trying to do Russia, Ukraine. And when Russia's ready, Ukraine's not. When Ukraine's ready, Russia's done. But they're losing 25,000 people a month on average. And I'm trying to get that one done,” Trump summarized.

Ending the war in Ukraine

Before returning to the White House, Donald Trump repeatedly said he intended to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours.

Since returning to power, this has not happened, but over the past year, the White House chief has been exploring ways out of the situation, exerting pressure alternately on Ukraine and Russia. For instance, just a week ago, Trump again claimed that a peace agreement was allegedly being delayed by Ukraine, not Russia.

The latest development was a peace plan with 28 points, which was later reduced to 20 points. In addition, work continues on a document regarding security guarantees and a prosperity plan for Ukraine.

Meanwhile, today, Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Budanov reported progress toward ending the war in Ukraine, expressing cautious optimism on the matter. At the same time, he emphasized that it is still impossible to say that peace will come tomorrow or is guaranteed.
