US President's future advisor: Trump wants to bring Ukraine and Russia to negotiations
Future US President Donald Trump wants to bring Ukraine and Russia to negotiations. The newly elected leader is focused on ending the war, according to Republican Congressman from Florida Mike Waltz.
Mike Waltz may become the National Security Advisor in the future US presidential administration. Donald Trump nominated Waltz for this position.
After the Republicans met with Trump on Wednesday, November 13, Waltz said that Trump wants to bring Ukraine and Russia to the negotiating table.
He states that the president has made it clear he aims to bring both sides to the negotiating table and is focused on ending the war rather than prolonging it.
The Republican adds that the vision of the security policy towards Ukraine depends on Trump's decision.
National Security Advisor is an important position in the US presidential administration. In Joe Biden's administration, this position is held by Jake Sullivan. The adviser is responsible for informing the president about key national security issues and coordinating with various agencies.
Trump's position on Ukraine
Donald Trump recently said that on his first day in office, he wants to put Ukraine and Russia to talks. Before the election, Trump repeatedly stated that he would end the war in 24 hours.
Western media publish several versions of Trump's so-called peace plan. The Wall Street Journal suggests that Trump will offer Ukraine not to join NATO for 20 years in exchange for further arms supplies. In this case, Ukraine will have to give up 20% of its territory.
The Telegraph writes that Trump will ask European troops to enter the buffer zone between the armies of Ukraine and Russia.
