US President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19 - CNN
On Wednesday, July 17, US President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID-19, reports CNN.
President Biden reportedly tested positive after his first event in Las Vegas, where he was scheduled to later speak at the annual UnidosUS conference. The White House confirmed the information, noting Biden's vaccination status and mild symptoms.
"Biden had upper respiratory symptoms, to include rhinorrhea (runny nose) and non-productive cough, with general malaise," stated a note from Biden's physician, provided by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
The White House confirmation followed a statement by UnidosUS CEO Janet Murguía after Biden was delayed by an hour and a half for his scheduled appearance.
"I was just on the phone with President Biden. And he shared his deep disappointment at not being able to join us this afternoon. The president has been at many events as we all know and he just tested positive for Covid," Murguía told attendees.
CNN reported that the US President will isolate at his residence in Delaware and continue to fulfill his duties as head of state.
Updated 08:32. Biden confirmed on his page on the social network X that he received a positive COVID-19 test result on Wednesday afternoon.
"I tested positive for COVID-19 this afternoon, but I am feeling good and thank everyone for the well wishes. I will be isolating as I recover, and during this time I will continue to work to get the job done for the American people," he wrote.
Let us remind you that almost two-thirds of Democrats believe that Biden should withdraw from the presidential race and nominate another candidate. This is according to a survey by the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.
Earlier, it was reported that the US President admitted he might withdraw from the race. Health issues could be a reason for such a step.
