The Director of National Intelligence of the United States, Tulsi Gabbard, called false and propaganda a Reuters publication that claimed Vladimir Putin plans to "seize all of Ukraine and part of Europe," according to a post by Gabbard on X.
The head of US national intelligence accused the outlet of spreading a false narrative aimed at blocking the peace initiatives of US President Donald Trump.
"Dangerously, you are promoting this false narrative to block President Trump’s peace effort, and fomenting hysteria and fear among the people to get them to support the escalation of war, which is what NATO and the EU really want in order to pull the United States military directly into war with Russia," Gabbard wrote.
According to her, based on its intelligence assessments, US intelligence has informed policymakers that Russia seeks to avoid a broader war with NATO. This assessment was also conveyed to Democratic HPSCI member Mike Quigley, whom Reuters cited in its article, claiming that Putin allegedly plans to seize all of Ukraine and part of Europe.
Tulsi Gabbard also stated, again citing US intelligence analysis, that Russia does not have the capabilities to conquer and occupy all of Ukraine, let alone Europe.
A Reuters report published earlier claimed that Putin still intends to take control of all of Ukraine and reclaim parts of Europe that were formerly part of the USSR, despite ongoing peace talks.
At the same time, European countries are preparing for a possible war with Russia, citing provocations by the Kremlin on their territory. Notably, numerous forecasts are suggesting that Russia may indeed be planning an invasion of NATO territory, or at least aiming to seize all of Ukraine, a possibility previously mentioned by US President Donald Trump.
In addition, according to analysts at the Institute for the Study of War, Russia is intensifying its covert attacks against Europe and has already entered a "zero phase" of preparations for a potential war with NATO.
