The US National Guard has received advanced mobile counter-drone systems from Anduril to help protect critical infrastructure and military facilities, according to Army Recognition.

Strengthening homeland defense

The new equipment was delivered to the Washington National Guard during equipment training at Camp Murray. The systems significantly enhance the Guard's ability to detect, track, and neutralize unauthorized drones.

The Pentagon says commercial drones have become easily accessible to potential adversaries, posing a direct threat to airports, energy infrastructure, military bases, and large public gatherings.

Officials also noted that the war in Ukraine accelerated the program, demonstrating how even inexpensive commercial drones can dramatically change the situation on the battlefield.

How the anti-drone system works

Anduril's mobile counter-UAS system integrates multiple sensors into a single network:

  • the Long Range Camera Tower provides long-distance visual surveillance;
  • the WISP detector identifies low-flying and small drones while filtering out birds and other environmental interference;
  • the Pulsar radio-frequency sensor scans the spectrum, detects communication links between drones and their operators, and determines their coordinates;
  • the Lattice platform uses artificial intelligence to combine all sensor data into a single operational picture for the operator and automatically assess the threat level.

This integrated architecture enables military personnel to instantly share information with the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and law enforcement agencies.

Earlier, the US Army opened the first of ten 3D-printed barracks at Fort Bliss. The Pentagon believes the technology will make it possible to build energy-efficient housing for service members faster and at a lower cost.
