US eliminates one of al-Qaeda's leaders in Syria

White House chief Donald Trump stated that American troops have carried out a precision strike on one of Al-Qaeda’s leaders in Syria.
According to Trump, the strike was conducted over the past weekend.
"US forces conducted a precision airstrike against a member of al-Qaeda in Syria this weekend. The terrorist leader was working with al-Qaeda across the region," he wrote.
The President also praised the head of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), General Michael Kurilla, as well as US Air Force pilots for the successful operation.
Fight against Al-Qaeda
Al-Qaeda is an international radical Islamist organization founded in 1988 by Osama bin Laden. It is known for its extremist ideology and responsibility for numerous terrorist attacks worldwide.
The most infamous attack carried out by the group was the destruction of the Twin Towers in New York on September 11, 2001.
Following the 9/11 attacks, the United States launched a global campaign against Al-Qaeda, declaring a war on terror. This led to military operations in Afghanistan, where the group had operational bases.
At the end of January, US forces carried out another targeted airstrike in Syria, resulting in the elimination of a senior militant from Al-Qaeda’s Syrian branch.
