US delegation arrives in Kyiv during massive Russian attack: Details
A delegation from the United States arrived in Kyiv on December 13, coinciding with a massive Russian attack on Ukraine, says Twitter (X) page of the US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink.
“I am pleased to welcome Ambassador (US Ambassador-at-Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy - ed.) Nate Fick and Doug Beck, Director of the Defense Innovation Unit to Kyiv - even during the air alert,” she wrote.
According to Brink, they will meet with representatives of Ukraine's defense and technology sector “to discuss lessons learned on the battlefield and opportunities for future cooperation with the United States.”
Russia's massive attack on Ukraine
Russian forces have been massively attacking Ukraine since the evening of December 12. First, the occupiers launched drones at Ukraine, and in the morning they launched missiles. The target of the shelling was Ukraine's energy sector.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia fired 93 missiles and almost 200 UAVs at Ukraine. In particular, air defense managed to shoot down 81 missiles, including 11 that were “landed” by F-16 fighters.
Russia had massively attacked Ukraine on November 28. Then, the strikes also hit energy facilities. For example, more than 500,000 customers in the Lviv region lost power on November 28, and more than 200,000 in Volyn.
