A court in the state of Georgia has closed the last criminal case filed against US President Donald Trump. It was related to election interference, when he attempted to overturn his defeat in the state in 2020, according to CNBC.
"The ruling by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, who ordered the case 'dismissed in its entirety,' draws to a close the final criminal case against Trump that remained unresolved after he won back the White House in 2024," the article states.
The decision came shortly after Georgia State Prosecutor Peter Skandalakis filed a motion to dismiss the case "to serve the interests of justice and promote judicial finality."
So far, no comment has been received from the White House on the matter.
In total, four criminal cases were filed against the US leader: two at the federal level, brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith, and one each in New York and Georgia. They were all closed after Trump won the 2024 presidential election.
The US Department of Justice recently appealed to the New York appellate court to overturn Trump’s conviction, arguing that principles of presidential immunity were violated during the case proceedings.
This concerns the so-called "hush money case," in which the US president was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal payments to an adult film actress ahead of the 2016 election.
