The United States is exploring potential cooperation with Russia's Gazprom, focusing on possible global projects, according to Bloomberg.

According to sources, preliminary contacts took place between American and Russian representatives on this issue. However, it is unclear who is leading these talks or whether the administration of President Donald Trump is directly involved.

Sources told Bloomberg that discussions about potential US cooperation with Gazprom are still in the early stages. They emphasize that such cooperation could be part of a broader US strategy to weaken Russia's ties with China and Iran.

However, unnamed European officials noted that it is unlikely the US will succeed in driving a wedge between China and Russia, given how close the two countries have become.

Meanwhile, Gazprom is interested in US assistance to help restore the operation of the Nord Stream pipeline.

Journalists point out that a deal between the US and Gazprom would mark a significant shift for Trump, as during his first term, he criticized Europe for its reliance on Russian gas and advocated for expanding the sale of US liquefied natural gas to European countries

US cooperation with Russia

US President Donald Trump recently had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which, among other things, they discussed cooperation between the two countries.

Afterward, Trump said that the United States wants to conclude several agreements with Russia. In particular, Washington is interested in Russian rare earth metals.

The media also reported that Russia had offered the United States an agreement on rare earth metals in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
