US approved sale of fighter jets, equipment, and weapons to Israel worth $20 billion
The US has approved the sale of F-15 aircraft and other military equipment and weapons to Israel, totaling $20 billion. Deliveries are expected to begin around 2026, according to Pentagon and Reuters.
On Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken approved the sale to Israel, which includes:
- F-15 fighters and military equipment worth nearly $19 billion;
- tank ammunition valued at $774 million;
- artillery shells worth over $60 million;
- army equipment totaling $583 million.
The delivery of the F-15s is expected to begin in 2029 due to the lengthy production time, while other equipment deliveries are slated to start in 2026, according to the US Department of Defense.
An expert mentioned that some deliveries from this military package to Israel might even occur before 2026.
What preceded this
Recently, American media reported that Washington plans to allocate $3.5 billion to Israel for the purchase of US weapons and military equipment.
These funds are expected to be released a few months after being approved by Congress.
This financial support comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
Additionally, it was previously reported that the US has deployed F-22. Raptor fighters to the Middle East to bolster Israel's defense and prevent potential regional escalation from Iran.
