US and allies destroy Houthi drones in Red Sea and Gulf of Aden
The US and its allies repelled several Houthi attacks. Militants launched drones in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, states the US Central Command.
According to the military, on May 10, in the evening, a coalition plane shot down a Houthi drone flying over the Gulf of Aden from Yemen.
On May 11, in the morning, the Central Command forces destroyed three drones over the Red Sea. They were also launched by the Houthis.
There were no reports of casualties or damage to ships.
According to the US military, the drones posed a threat to both coalition forces and merchant ships.
Houthi attacks in the Red Sea
Last year, the Yemeni Houthis began actively using weapons supplied by Iran to attack ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
Several times, their drones or missiles hit merchant ships, causing them to be damaged.
In particular, 2 weeks ago, it became known that Houthis attacked a tanker in the Red Sea. The vessel was damaged.
