Unknown assailants open fire on police in Makhachkala, Dagestan: Fatalities reported

A shooting took place in the Russian city of Makhachkala. Unknown assailants attacked law enforcement officers, this was announced by the head of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, according to Meduza.
"We are clarifying the circumstances of the shootout in Makhachkala. According to preliminary information, Interior Ministry officers tried to stop a car, but the driver did not comply and opened fire on them," the Russian official wrote.
He added that there were casualties as a result of the incident.
Meanwhile, Russian Telegram channels reported that one, two, or even three officers from the Russian State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (GIBDD) had been killed. Later, the Dagestan Interior Ministry confirmed that three police officers were killed.
The ministry also stated that the attackers fled the scene in a police vehicle. An interception plan was put into effect.
Attack on police officers in Dagestan
Back in early March, a group of unidentified individuals attacked a police station in Makhachkala. A shootout occurred involving several young men and police officers.
Following the incident, Russian law enforcement launched an operation to neutralize the threat.
There were no reports of casualties or injuries as a result of that incident.
