UN to ask donors for over 3 billion dollars in aid for Ukraine
United Nations agencies will reportedly request $3.1 billion next week to fund aid for Ukraine, according to Reuters.
"As the war in Ukraine continues unabated, driving high levels of humanitarian need, financial support must be sustained. In 2024, we urge all donors to once again step up and help the people of Ukraine," said Edem Wosornu, spokesperson for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
She added that the United Nations' response plan for 2024, to be presented in Geneva on Monday along with the refugee agency, aims to raise $3.1 billion to provide assistance to 8.5 million people in Ukraine.
Aid from the UN to Ukraine
Earlier, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs stated that in 2024, over 14.6 million people, constituting 40% of Ukraine's population, will require humanitarian assistance.
In early December, the organization called for allocating $46 billion in 2024 to aid people affected by humanitarian crises worldwide, including in Gaza, Sudan, and Ukraine.
