UN Security Council to hold emergency meeting over Russia's latest shelling of Ukraine
Today, November 27, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will convene an emergency meeting in response to recent attacks by the Russian Federation on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, according to Ukraine’s representative to the UN, Sergiy Kyslytsya.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at 5:00 PM Kyiv time.
"...an emergency UNSC meeting is being convened at Ukraine's request in connection with the aggressor’s continued criminal shelling of critical infrastructure in Ukraine," Kyslytsya wrote.
According to media reports, the meeting will also address the November 21 launch of a new Russian ballistic missile targeting the Dnipro region.
Russian attacks on Ukraine
Since the beginning of its full-scale war, Russia has persistently targeted Ukrainian cities and villages, causing significant damage to critical infrastructure and civilian casualties. The aggressor employs a wide array of weaponry, including missile systems, artillery, drones, and aircraft.
During the night of November 27, Russian forces launched a massive assault using 89 attack drones, including Iranian-made Shahed drones and other unidentified models. Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted and destroyed 36 of the drones.
