The United Nations, Ukrainian government, World Bank, and European Union have jointly estimated the required funds for post-war reconstruction of the country, according to Ukrinform.

The results will prioritize investments in Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction for the upcoming year.

UN Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia, and the Americas, Miroslav Jenča previously estimated the cost of restoring Ukraine to be over $400 billion.

Jenča stated that the losses incurred from the war in Ukraine are projected to exceed the previously confirmed figures, due to the ongoing violence. Furthermore, there are concerns regarding the potential escalation in attacks on civilian populations and infrastructure during the colder months.

Jenča reported that the UN, its partners, and the Ukrainian authorities are executing a winter response plan to aid 1.7 million individuals.

Currently, around 360,000 people have benefited from this plan. The remaining individuals require an additional $435 million in funding for repairs to their residences, purchasing winter apparel, heating equipment, and fuel, and restoring centralized water supply and heating systems.

UN agencies have provided humanitarian assistance to over 10 million people this year, and aim to increase coverage to 11 million people by the end of 2023.

UN agencies have provided humanitarian assistance to over 10 million people this year, and aim to increase coverage to 11 million people by the end of 2023. Miroslav Jenča stated that the organization plans to expand coverage to meet this goal.

Around 4 million Ukrainians residing in the occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions are unable to access humanitarian aid as organizations are unable to enter these areas.

Jenča emphasized the importance of the international community staying focused on Ukraine and ending the suffering caused by the war.
