UN condemns Ukraine's strike on Russia's Tatarstan, referring to drone plant as 'civilian infrastructure'
UN condemned the strike of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Shahed drone production plant in Russian Tatarstan on April 2. Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, referred to the plant of the occupiers' military-industrial complex, as "civilian infrastructure."
"We stand against and call for a halt to all attacks on civilian infrastructure," he said.
Attack on the Shahed making plant in Tatarstan
On April 2, Russian media reported that drones had attacked enterprises in Tatarstan, Russia. Supposedly, enterprises in Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk were hit. It was claimed that there were casualties. Later, RBC-Ukraine sources said that the target of the attack in Russian Tatarstan, which is over 1,000 km away from Ukraine, was the Shahed assembly plant. This was a Defense Intelligence operation.
In recent weeks, Ukrainian defense forces have successfully attacked oil refineries in Russia. The Insider reported that in 2024, there were 15 drone attacks on 13 oil refineries in nine regions of Russia. Eight of these facilities suffered significant damage.
