Ukrainians seek peace, but Putin 'craves action' - Zelenskyy
The main wish of Ukrainians for Christmas is peaceful life on their territory. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to continue the war, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Head of State reminded that this is the third Christmas for Ukraine under full-scale war with Russia, and Ukrainians cannot celebrate it fully.
“Not all of us are home, unfortunately. Not everyone has a home. And not everyone is with us. However, despite all the hardships brought by the enemy, it hasn’t managed to capture or destroy what matters most - our hearts, the light inside us, belief in good and mercy, the human being inside each of us” Zelenskyy said.
He emphasized that Ukrainians now want only peaceful life on their land, to see the sun, their sky, and the Christmas star in it, not the Shahed drones and Russian missiles.
"But some get 'bored and crave action'. These words are proof of how far they are from God, from Christianity, from real faith. And this is proof of why their captivity and darkness will lose. We know this. The world knows it. And God knows it. And evil will lose. Ukrainians believe in this and pray for this," Zelenskyy added.
Putin's scandalous statement
Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a press conference. The Kremlin leader once again made scandalous statements about the war against Ukraine.
In particular, he noted that Russians, when everything is calm, stable and measured, “get bored and crave action.”
He also offered Western countries to hold a “duel.” He called on Ukraine's partners to deploy their air defense systems in Kyiv, after which Russia would strike the city with an Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile.
