The Russian Oreshnik missile is allegedly such a "perfect weapon" that it is claimed to be "impossible" to intercept, even with the most advanced Western air defense systems, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing Russian president Vladimir Putin during his online speech.

Putin also proposed holding a so-called "high-tech duel," urging the West to deploy air defense systems in Kyiv to try to intercept the Russian missile.

"We are ready for such an experiment. Is the other side ready?" Putin declared.

According to the Russian leader, conducting such an "experiment" would be "interesting" for Russia.

Putin also attempted once again to justify the war against Ukraine, claiming that there are "many people" in the country who support being "liberated" from the so-called "Nazi regime."

Furthermore, the Kremlin leader compared Russia's S-400 air defense systems to the American THAAD missile systems, calling the latter "weaker." Putin hinted that even if the US supplies these systems to Ukraine, Russia would continue to "pose a threat" with its technologies.

What we know about Oreshnik missile

On November 21, Russia launched the Oreshnik missile at the city of Dnipro for the first time since the full-scale war began. At that time, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin admitted that this was a test of this type of weapon.

Later, the reports indicated that this type of weapon was allegedly deployed in Belarus.

Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation described this information as "scare tactics." The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, Andrii Kovalenko, noted that all claims about the reduced flight time are part of a Russian information operation targeting Ukrainians and European citizens.

According to him, the missile's speed is irrelevant for air defense systems.
