Ukrainian athlete Nataliia Zharkova won gold at the 2025 Freediving World Championship in the CWT discipline, constant weight with monofin. The competition took place in Mytikas, Greece. Here are the results.

How the Ukrainians performed

Two Ukrainian athletes took part in the women's start: Zharkova and Kateryna Sadurska, a five-time medalist of world championships in depth disciplines. In total, 28 athletes competed.

Zharkova announced the greatest declared depth, 113 meters. The Ukrainian completed the attempt and became world champion.

Sadurska declared a dive to 105 meters but managed to reach only 102 meters. Due to a penalty, her final result was 98 meters, placing her in 4th place.

Who competed?

On the podium, Zharkova outperformed Italians Alessia Zecchini and Chiara Obino. They registered dives of 109 and 106 meters, respectively.

Zharkova's achievements at world championships

This is not the first major triumph for the Ukrainian freediver. At competitions under the aegis of the World Underwater Federation (CMAS), Zharkova has already won gold in:

  • constant weight with bi-fins (2018, 2019),
  • without fins (2018),
  • free immersion (2021).

Next starts for Ukrainian freedivers

On Friday, September 12, Zharkova and Sadurska will compete in the free immersion (FIM) discipline, where World Championship medals will also be contested.
