Ukrainian tourist fined up to €15,000 for painting on Italian Colosseum
A nineteen-year-old Ukrainian tourist decided to leave an autograph on the walls of the Colosseum. However, Italian law enforcement officers learned about this violation and fined the young man, reports Fatto Quaditiano.
According to the publication, this was not the first time someone wanted to immortalize their name on the walls of the Colosseum. However, it is illegal to engrave your name or the name of your girlfriend on the Colosseum, as well as on any other monument.
This time it was a 19-year-old Ukrainian tourist who left his initials between the entrance to the first ring and the atrium. A witness saw the scene and alerted the guards. The police informed the young man of the offense and fined him.
As the Italian newspaper noted, this crime is usually incriminated as defacing and damaging cultural property, and it is punishable by imprisonment for a term of two to five years and a fine of up to 15,000 euros.
