The restoration of air travel in Ukraine is an important matter that requires meeting several conditions, states Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

He notes that there are currently several proposals being considered regarding the restoration of air travel. However, he specified that "there are four key components that need to be addressed."

"Firstly, it's the protection of those airports where the use of planes will be decided. Secondly, there needs to be prepared infrastructure. The involvement of an insurance mechanism is a must because nobody will do this without insurance. And the company undertaking these flights is also a matter," explains Danilov.

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council emphasizes that through joint efforts, these issues can be resolved, allowing Ukraine to eventually utilize its airspace.

"I believe that next year we will definitely make progress on this matter," he adds.

Restoration of air travel

On December 1st, Deputy Head of the President's Office Andrii Sybiha announced that Boryspil would be the first airport to reopen in Ukraine.

At the same time, advisor to the Head of the President's Office, Mykhailo Podolyak, stressed that such a step would only be possible after the complete closure of Ukrainian airspace to Russian missiles and drones.

Yesterday, on December 19th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the opening of Boryspil airport would signify Ukraine's victory. He mentioned that, according to him, this would be a very serious operation.
