Ukrainian special service attack Russian landing ship in Novorossiysk
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted a special operation in the Novorossiysk Bay, as a result of which the large Russian landing ship "Olenegorsky Gornyak" was damaged, according to the sources within the SBU.
According to sources in the Security Service, the operation was carried out in conjunction with the Ukrainian Navy.
"As a result of the attack, the 'Olenegorsky Gornyak' sustained a serious breach and is currently unable to perform its combat tasks. Therefore, all Russian claims of a 'repelled attack' are fake," the statement reads.
The sources within the intelligence agencies also shared footage of the nighttime attack. The video shows a surface drone of the SBU, loaded with 450 kilograms of TNT, attacking the enemy ship with about 100 crew members on board.
Attack of sea drones on Novorossiysk
Previously, on the night of August 4, the Russian port city of Novorossiysk was attacked by sea drones. The explosions occurred around the first hour of the night in South Ozereevka, and a second series occurred a few hours later in Myskhako.
The Russian Ministry of Defense later accused Ukraine of attempting to attack the Novorossiysk naval base with two unmanned naval boats.
Sergei Shoigu claimed that the sea drones were supposedly "detected and destroyed by fire." He claimed that the attack was repelled by two Russian ships, the "Olenegorsky Gornyak" and the "Suvorovets."
However, later images emerged on the internet of the damaged ship, confirming that a prominent Russian landing ship, the "Olenegorsky Gornyak," had been hit during the night, as later confirmed by sources within the SBU.
