Ukrainian Railways deliver first batch of trucks to Poland by rail
The first batch of trucks arrived in Poland bypassing the blockade by rail. They will continue to their destination by road, states the press service of Ukrainian Railways.
"The batch of trucks arrived in Poland by rail. The Ukrainian and Polish sides have agreed on all issues related to transportation and customs and border procedures. Then the trucks will go to their destination by road," the press service writes.
According to Ukrainian Railways, the next shipments may become regular. In particular, modernized platforms will be used for transportation.
Border blockade
Since November 6, freight traffic has been hampered on the Ukrainian-Polish border. The reason for the queues is a strike by Polish carriers demanding the return of the permit system for our country.
Moreover, according to the Association of Hungarian Trucking Contractors MKFE, Hungarian law enforcement officials allowed their carriers to hold a protest tomorrow, December 11. According to Andrii Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, the Hungarian side does not expect the border to be blocked.
Bypassing the blockade
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Railways has organized a container train to transport trucks between Ukraine and Poland, which runs on the route Sknyliv (Ukraine) - Slavków (Poland).
"To order the transportation of a truck by a container train from Ukraine, you need to contact the Liski Transport Service Center branch of Ukrainian Railways, and in the opposite direction - UZ Cargo Poland," the press service of Ukrainian Railways said.
