Ukrainian President's office comments on Ukraine-US talks in Saudi Arabia

During the talks between Ukraine and the United States in Saudi Arabia, they discussed the safety of navigation and the cessation of attacks on Ukrainian ports. They also discussed the exchange of prisoners, according to an advisor to the head of the Ukrainian President's Office, Serhii Leshchenko.
During the talks between the delegations of Ukraine and the United States in Saudi Arabia on March 23, they discussed ending the Russian strikes on Ukrainian ports, not only in Odesa.
The meeting also touched on infrastructure and shipping safety, including a mutual ceasefire and the return of Ukrainian children and prisoners of war.
“We talked about a mutual ceasefire - we do not attack their facilities at sea, including river ones, they do not attack our facilities and our ports,” he said.
Leshchenko said that an important topic was the security of Ukrainian ports operating under the threat of Russian strikes.
It was about avoiding Russian attacks on port infrastructure in the Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions. Leshchenko noted that the talks were a technical process, and such meetings would become regular.
They also considered the possibility of exchanging prisoners of war and returning Ukrainian children held by Russia.
The talks between Ukraine and the United States in Riyadh, which lasted about 5 hours, ended in a constructive discussion, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. Technical aspects were discussed, including the protection of energy facilities and critical infrastructure.
These talks are taking place against the backdrop of Trump's initiative for a comprehensive 30-day ceasefire, to which Ukraine has agreed, but only if Russia takes a similar step.
In addition, on Monday, March 24, representatives of the United States and Russia began a new round of talks. The meeting took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where the Americans had held consultations with the Ukrainian side the day before.
