Ukraine has several ideas on how to bring an end to Russia’s long-running war against Ukraine, and to achieve this, it is necessary to meet with the American side, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with New York Post.

"Peace talks should not be forgotten. Ukraine is definitely America’s ally. President Trump wants peace, and we want peace as well," Zelenskyy notes.

According to him, Ukraine wants peace much more than the Russians do. Although Vladimir Putin is doing everything he can to make it seem as though he wants it, Ukraine does not. These are the signals he is sending to the US.

The head of state adds that they have to look for options for a peace agreement every day, that they needed to meet with the Americans, and that they had a few more ideas on how they could bring the war to an end

Have peace talks been suspended?

The latest round of trilateral talks between representatives of Ukraine, Russia, and the US took place on February 17–18 in Geneva.

The next meeting, scheduled for March 5 in Abu Dhabi, was postponed following US and Israeli strikes on Iran. A new date and venue for the talks have not yet been determined.

According to the Financial Times, US-mediated peace talks to end the war in Ukraine are at risk of collapse as President Donald Trump is gradually losing interest in the negotiations, and the war with Iran is diverting Washington’s attention.
