Ukrainian Parliament meets with US Congress on Ukraine support
Ruslan Stefanchuk met in Halifax with a US Congressional delegation led by Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Jim Risch. The sides discussed defense support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia, according to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine.
Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine, stated that the conversation focused on the security situation, the urgent needs of Ukraine’s security and defense forces, and the decisions that allies need to make.
He emphasized that he urged the US to continue providing defense support to Ukraine, as two nuclear powers have united against the country. Notably, on the more than 1,000th day of the full-scale war, Russia resorted to using intercontinental ballistic missiles, launching daily strikes on Ukrainian cities, and involving soldiers from North Korea.

Additionally, Stefanchuk and US congressmen discussed intensifying sanctions pressure on Russia.
Stefanchuk concluded by highlighting the importance of the latest US sanctions package targeting Russia's financial sector and noting that the goal is to quickly increase weapons production in collaboration with the US. This issue was discussed in detail.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in an interview with Fox News that if the US decides to reduce military aid, Ukraine is likely to lose the war. While Ukraine has its own production capabilities, it is insufficient to meet the demands of the conflict.
