Ukrainian Parliament approves Unmanned Systems Forces as separate type of troops
The Verkhovna Rada has adopted amendments to the Law on the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The bill creates a separate branch of the Armed Forces - the Unmanned Systems Forces, according to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
According to him, the draft law No. 11507 was supported by 294 MPs.
At the end of August, the Cabinet of Ministers approved draft amendments to the law on the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which confirms the existence of the Unmanned Systems Forces, and submitted them to the Rada.
Presenting the draft law, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stressed that modern warfare is impossible without a powerful drone army that operates effectively and interacts with other branches of the armed forces. Ukraine has made a real breakthrough in the production and use of drones. The state has already contracted 1 million drones, and 500 Ukrainian companies produce UAVs.
At the end of June, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree approving the decision of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) to create the Unmanned Systems Forces in Ukraine. According to the Ministry of Defence, the UAV Force will allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike Russian invaders at the fullest possible depth, up to the Urals.
Colonel Vadym Sukharevskyi, who is known as a legend of the Russian-Ukrainian war, is the head of the Unmanned Systems Force.
