Before the full-scale invasion, there were about half a million individuals registered in the single electronic state registry of war veterans. After the war, this number could grow to 4 million, according to an interview of the Minister for Veterans' Affairs Yulia Laputina with RBC-Ukraine.

The Minister notes that a veteran is primarily a participant in combat operations.

"In our ministry, we grant volunteer status to volunteers, and the relevant armed formations grant status to those who serve in them. But in addition to veterans, there are also their families. So the policy towards veterans should also include care for their families," Laputina summarized.

Assistance to war veterans in Ukraine

The Ministry of Social Policy has undertaken the implementation of a series of projects aimed at providing assistance to military personnel and veterans. Applications for participation can be submitted through the "e-Veteran" platform.

Additionally, it has been revealed that the Cabinet of Ministers is launching new experimental projects related to servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and veterans.
