Ukrainian Navy reports number of Russian missile carriers in Black and Mediterranean Seas
Russia continues to maintain carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles in the Black and Mediterranean Seas as of September 21. A total of three ships have been recorded, according to the morning report from the Ukrainian Navy.
According to military reports, as of 6:00 a.m. (Kyiv time), one Kalibr carrier, capable of launching up to four missiles, was present in the Black Sea. Meanwhile, no Russian vessels were in the Sea of Azov, consistent with previous days.
However, two ships have been detected in the Mediterranean Sea, both of which are missile carriers with a possible combined launch capacity of up to 20 Kalibr missiles.
Additionally, the Ukrainian naval forces reported that within the past 24 hours, in Russia’s interest, the following vessels passed through the Kerch Strait:
- to the Black Sea - 4 vessels, 3 of which continued towards the Bosporus Strait;
- to the Azov Sea - 8 vessels, 4 of which were moving from the Bosporus Strait.
Military officials emphasized that Russia continues to violate the 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) by disabling Automatic Identification Systems (AIS).
It is worth noting that military reports indicated one enemy missile carrier in the Black Sea yesterday morning, with a potential launch capacity of four Kalibr missiles. Five vessels were present in the Mediterranean, four of which were missile carriers, with a maximum potential launch capacity of 32 missiles.
