Ukrainian navy on number of missile carriers Russia deployed to seas
On the morning of April 24, Russia deployed a ship to the Azov Sea and missile carriers to the Mediterranean, according to the Ukrainian Naval Forces.
"There are no enemy ships in the Black Sea. There is 1 enemy ship in the Azov Sea," the report says.
Additionally, there are 7 enemy ships in the Mediterranean Sea, including 3 Kalibr cruise missile carriers with a total of up to 20 missiles.
This is not the first time Russian forces have deployed missile carriers to the Mediterranean Sea. For instance, on April 21, a similar grouping of Russian ships was observed in the area.
The presence of enemy ships in the Mediterranean Sea, including missile carriers, is explained by Russia's attempt to expand its military presence in other regions, not just in Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Naval Forces.
Last year, occupiers were forced to relocate ships from Crimea to Novorossiysk (Krasnodar Krai, Russia) after Ukrainian defense forces launched a missile strike on the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol on September 22, 2023. Specifically, Russia transferred 14 ships to Novorossiysk after the "incident" at the headquarters.
