Ukrainian soldiers destroyed a group of Russian war criminals using a mortar that had moved forward at night to storm positions in the Avdiivka direction, according to the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Today the approaches to Avdiivka are a mess of sinkholes and the ground is littered with enemy bodies.
"While conducting surveillance in our area of responsibility, we noticed an enemy group of seven soldiers moving down the hill. We opened fire with a mortar. As a result of the fire, the group was destroyed," the SOF operators say.
The strike killed three Russians and wounded two others.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, over the past day, January 16, Ukrainian soldiers eliminated another 730 Russian occupiers. Since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost 372,820 troops.
